I have amassed a collection of authors/books that have been suggested on this forum. The list contains everything that got either lots of good reviews from you good people, or seemed interested to me. There are some missing that I have already read. This started as a list of books I'd like to at some point read and add to my collection, so it is not a complete list of all the many authors/books that have received recommendations.
Format:

What remains of the first 20 books listed in the "top 100 sci-fi books of all time" (http://scifilists.sffjazz.com/lists_books_rank1.html) list that has not been covered above.
Top 100 sci-fi of all time
Julian May - The Many-Colored Land
Philip K Dick - The Divine Invasion, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Robert a Heinlein - Stranger in a Strange Land, Starship Troopers, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress
Ray Brandbury - Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles
Joe Haldeman - The Forever War
H G Wells - The Time Machine, The War of the Worlds
At some point I'm going to have to rank these in order of interest and dive in. Much of the above are series, so we'll see how I decide to cover all those. At my current rate, I'll never read all of these before I die, so I'll also have to start reading more. Hopefully having the list written down will help?
Anything I missed? Feel free to post comments, suggestions, or your own lists.
Edit:
"The Magicians" by Lev Grossman
"Lord of Light" Zelzany
"Blindsight" by Peter Watts
"The Lies of Locke Lamora" Scott Lynch, Gentleman Bastards #1

I never got through Martian chronicles, it filled me with such intense melancholy I couldn't turn another page.

Wow, I'm not sure if that makes me want to read it more, or less. Must be great writing to elicit that amount of emotion.

SilentRoamer [18|Sep 04:18 pm]: you should definetely add Zelazny onto the list :)
SilentRoamer [18|Sep 04:18 pm]: im looking for Lord of Light as that is his defining work

Missing from the list is a bit of Asimov, though I already piked up The Gods Themselves, and have read Foundation as well as Foundation and Empire. I guess that means Second Foundation needs to be on the list, and I'd like to own the trilogy, since what I read initially was my father's set.

Granted I started reading it in the midst of a severe depression after a breakup.

I think Caves of Steel by Asimov is a great book. Introduces R. Daneel Olivaw who is a great character and I like the relationship between him and Elijah Bailey.
Nemesis is good enough and I like the resolution at its ending.

right now i'm listening to The Girl With All The Gifts and it appears to be a thrilling rewrite of the zombie genre!
-
Blindsight by Peter Watts is a must-read for fans of Bakker in my opinion.
-
How did you list Simmons and not have Hyperion on here ;)?

Lol :P. Did you read Olympos and Ilium first? Maybe you consolidated this thread before you read Hyperion and such?
-
I already read Hyperion Cantos pre-list. Olympos and Ilium are listed because I haven't read them.
Its a list of books i'd like to read. Books that have done been read are not on here.
