Waterstones, UK, Piccadilly Circus has it early! And they seem to have stocked up on the prior books for good measure (which have been hard to get).
Buying this one and a tDtCB for good measure.

My goodness, that is an awe-inspiring sight!

On train to Glasgow to buy book.

I was sitting quietly till I read this. I should have got changed before going out though. Dressed in horrible clothes I was in safety of house wearing. Sort of just put trainers on and left house need a warmer jacket and a time shirt that isn't too small.

I always use the address and phone number for a small public library if i'm buying from another country. Very handy if you don't have someone letting you use their address.

None in any of the stores near me :(

Got it yesterday at Waterstones in Oxford...I've just finished the White-luck Warrior reread. I guess The Great Ordeal reread will have to wait at this point...
-
Amazing, it shows even as 'in stock online':

Yaaaasssss!
Lol, this happened last year too. B&N weren't privy to Overlook's change in date and so sold what they had about a week early.

Hiro - Thanks for the link. Waterstones allowed me to ship to US address.

So, I've taken the jump. Or rather, readjusted my jump. I've ordered TUC via this link and cancelled my Amazon.de pre-order. I'm hoping that TUC arrives before or on Wednesday next week.

Looks like Waterstones is already on backorder now. Glad I got my order in quickly, it's already shipped.
-
Gah! This is so aggravating. Anyone want to make some extra cash and ship me a copy? I already ordered one from Waterston but I'm scared it won't make it in time. I literally convinced my wife to push back our vacation so I could read this book and now it will release a day after I fly out of the country.
I still get pissed at myself for missing out on that one ebay sale where an ARC sold for 100. The 300 ones were too much for me...

Your point convinced me! I'm following your advice, Madness. I've started my TGO reread this morning, and I must admit that read immediately after the previous two books it pays off.
-
Shipping confirmation! ;D
-
Just placed my pre-order at Waterstones near where I live. They're not bringing into their general stock so special order only, trade paperback.
Should arrive by July 6th according to the nice lady I spoke to on the phone. Happy days.
-
SR :)! I think you have to get Overlook's edition for HC.
A reddit moderator at r/fantasy suggests looking on Book Depository (https://www.bookdepository.com/Unholy-Consult-R-Scott-Bakker/9780356508719) to take advantage of that sweet free worldwide shipping.

Mine just shipped. Reading through their site though it looks like a possible 2 week shiptime to USA.
I'm going to try switching my Kindle address or whatever and buy it on July 6 from the Amazon UK. I just need this book ASAP honestly.
-
No copies in Scotland at all. I went into Waterstones and they checked the system for me and said that there were a few stores down south with copies but literally every store had only 1 each. I can't remember them all but I'm sure they mentioned Carlisle, Cardiff, and a few others if anyone is in those areas. Belfast as well.
Looks like I'll just be waiting on my book depository pre-order :(.

The Princess street one in Edinburgh offered to order me one in, said a couple of days, but they had one in the Sauchihall street Glasgow so just went there instead, another person beat us both to the punch. So we have 3 of us in Scotland.
Where about in Scotland are you?
-
Awesome, didn't realise there'd be so many. I'm in Glasgow. It was the Stirling store I checkd though.
I've ordered the one in the Carlisle store to get picked up on Argyle Street, so hopefully it's only a day or two!

THE MERCH has helped MSJ get his Unholy of Unholies on the earliest date possible. Your the man! If I'm ever in Scotland, we'll put on kilts, get shitfacedd on some good Scotch and reenacte Braveheart or some shit. Sound good?

The book officially releases in the UK tomorrow. I was planning on getting a VPN service to mask my IP address and buy the ebook from this site:
https://www.kobo.com/nl/en/ebook/the-unholy-consult
I wanted to confirm that it worked first before posting my plans here. Thankfully I just checked and the book i ordered last week is already out for delivery so I can spare myself the attempt. If anyone wishes to try and get the book early this way TunnelBear, a popular and, what I read anyway, very reliable VPN service also has a free 7 day free trial. I will try this tonight if my book isn't delivered for whatever reason and share what I find.
EDIT: Just wanted to thank Madness for providing that bookstore with the free preview of the first 2 chapters. It's what gave me this idea in the first place.

I'm pretty sure you can just make an account of Amazon.co.uk with a UK address and it should work, regardless of your IP.

Just got fed up waiting until tomorrow for my book.
Went to Amazon.com.au and registered an address there (it's the 6th there yay)
Bought the kindle version and logged back to co.uk.
And now my slog begins............

Today I received another shipping confirmation, this one directly from the Bookseller, instead of Waterstonesmarketplace, like last week. Now I am worried. What's going on here.....????

My Waterstone order just arrived a good two days before the estimated arrival. I suggest tracking it through USPS if you ordered from the same place.

I ordered from Kennys Bookshop, no tracking or the likes were offered, beyond those contradictory emails. Congrats on starting the final Slog!

I got the ebook from Amazon.AU, wasn't too bad, just made a new account.

I ordered from Kennys Bookshop
'Nuff Said. Kenny is a notorious online fraud. The only "products" that people should be buying from him are Black Market wrist watches and health insurance coverage.

It is now 23:46 here, do you suppose that the ebook will be available after midnight? As I am contemplating some fix for the delivery delay.

Yeah should be out at midnight. or 1am. my recollection of getting kindle books from amazonuk are 1am on release day.

So, I made an amazon.co.uk account to get the kindle version... then I remembered I don't know wtf I am doing. To add a credit card to pay you have to use your legit address otherwise it won't work right? So how do you add an UK address on the account so you can download the ebook? Right now it says this service is unavailable to US customers.

No, as long as your shipping address is UK it will work. Your billing address does need to be your real one, but that won't stop you.
Make sure you are fully signed out of .com though, or it won't work.
-
How come I can't see kindle as an option for any of the amazon sites (Canada, US, UK, etc)?

Probably because your shipping address is a US one? Or you are signed in to .com?

Noticed a couple St Louisans going to be picking up TUC at Clayton Barnes and Noble...headed there now to see if can talk someone into letting me purchase tonight.

At long last the physical TPB of TUC arrived today...

As far as I know, books usually do not have a hard street date (unless they are huge, blockbuster releases), so they should all be available to be sold on arrival. Hopefully you got your hands on one.

Anyone have any luck in the US? Much like thousandfold, I was told today last week...and now they are saying the 25th? I exhibited some Dunyain like patience up until now...but I don't think my skills are strong enough to wait another couple of weeks. It's taking all my will power not to read threads with spoilers...I fear I will not be able to be strong if I have to wait until the 25th.

Resist! Resist! You understand not what your give up by giving in. Fight on!
Also, you can try the various methods for getting ebooks - thats a pretty good compromise.

Ditto. I'm a bit irritated that it's not available. Hoping it pops up next Tues.
BUT! (And i'm not sure if this is ok) if someone has a way for me to acquire a digital version... now(?) I'm all ears.
No matter what I'm going to keep my preorder and - as usual - I always buy an extra of the series to loan out to anyone I can convince...

I managed to buy mine off the foreign Amazon site, with a new account and a foreign address in it but apparently it's not as easy as it would seem.
I'm not exactly sure how it worked for me, but it did.

Just go to the beginning of this thread and go forward?
There's about 6 pages of posts you might wade through.
Forum Navigation 101 :) :
Click on the blue topic link on the main subforum page to go to the beginning of a thread:
http://www.second-apocalypse.com/index.php?board=36.0
That'll take you to the start.
There's a button to the far right of each topic that if you hover over it it says "latest post". Clicking that will bring you to the end of the thread.
You can always navigate to past pages by click on one of the blue page buttons on the bottom left of each page (pro tip, if you click the "..." you can see all the pages"). Dont hit the "previous" / " next " buttons on the bottom right, this will go to a different thread entirely.
Part of this conversation might be useful if you read the next several posts:

I got an .epub from the Australian Kobo store (I'm in Canada) by registering a throw-away email address and paying using Paypal. It's DRM'ed and I had to bring it into my reader through Adobe, so it wasn't entirely smooth & painless, but it's another way of getting a copy in addition to Amazon.

UPDATE: It appears that the release of TUC (at least by Barnes and Noble in STL) has been pushed back to 7/25. I have one of the four copies on reserve at the B & N in Clayton, MO. They say that when the books arrive at their store, I can acquire my copy.
I'll post further updates as new information is received. BFK signing out. Two more weeks....smdh.

Good luck BFK, hope that date holds true.

Wow, that's a fairly long delay, do you have any idea as to why? :(
Seems to be happening to quite a few people - just look at the above comments where several people got their date delayed to July 25th. I wonder if it's because they're hardcover rather than paperback copies... (mine is a paperback and seems to be keeping to the estimated schedule so far)

As you may know, if you're not fixed on a hardcover edition, you can get the UK TPB or the ebook. That's how I got my fix, anyway.

After finding out about the July 25 release date at Clayton B/N I went ahead and ordered soft cover copy from Book Depository online-should have it in a week or so. Still have my hardcover on reserve...will use my paperback as a lender copy (if i can actually get someone else to finish the slog that is.) Seems my friends having troubles making it past TDTCB.

BTW, if anyone in Stl area is interested in getting together and discussing the series I would absolutely love to meet any local fanboys/fangirls-it has been a long and lonely slog :). Feel free to PM if interested (will be anxiously awaiting messages!)

De nada.
TUC was my very first ebook, since I didn't want to wait any longer for the arrival of the paper version. Normally, I only read books on paper as well. Your patience muscles will be getting quite the workout then. I admire your willpower.
-
Sure it's going to be like a "great ordeal" to me. ;D
But due to my job (and family issues, hahaha) I have an almost masochistic level of patience.
Anyway, pray for me to the God of Gods.

My copy arrived today, one day earlier than the original estimate. :)
...I'll join you all in the TUC subforum soon. ;)

Facebook fan reported a Toronto store selling TUC early!
-
Thanks, Madness. (sigh)...if only my super power were flying...then I would just head right over and pick one up. Alas...I will continue on my conditioned path here in Allen Texas. If anyone hears of any stores selling early in the greater Dallas area...please let us know. These generous actions will no doubt contribute to your avoidance of damnation...well, at the very least, it couldn't hurt.
-
No copies of TUC in Mallorca (Spain), obviously.
And my Amazon (hardcover) purchase delayed to Augut 11th - fuck, fuck, fuck. :-\
As you may know, if you're not fixed on a hardcover edition, you can get the UK TPB or the ebook. That's how I got my fix, anyway.
y bienvenido
being some kind of paper zaudunyani (curse the ebook blasphemers), I'm pretty fucked, hahaha.
Oh you are, are you?
Might I interest you in this thread (http://www.second-apocalypse.com/index.php?topic=1603.msg21951#msg21951), or maybe this one (http://www.second-apocalypse.com/index.php?topic=1684.0)?
EBook+ Paperback >>>> Hardcover

Fuck, I can't rave enough about how cool it is to see The False Sun, The Four Revelations of Cinial'jin, and all those maps in a tattooed, dead tree format.
-
Though, I'm not thrilled that in the book it's still just Four Revelations rather than the full title.
-
A heads up for anyone interested...I just called my local Barnes and Noble to see if I could get lucky and they would have a copy. I was just told that it is out, however, they are not going to get a copy as there are only 59 copies of the book in the warehouse. Just for clarity, I asked if she meant 59 copies for the state of Texas...she, politely, responded with "no, 59 copies for the united states." So it seems I will be making my first e-book purchase...even though it goes against every fiber of my being to do so.

Perfect.

For Scott's, and his fans, sake...I'm holding out hope that the B&N rep was misinformed. So if anyone hears otherwise, please let us know. I ordered a copy from the book depository...hoping it will be here soon.

Facebook fan reported a Toronto store selling TUC early!
There's 2 copies at Coles in North Bay according to Chapters.ca.
Sounds like I'm going for a motorcycle ride tonight after work....its beautiful outside and I'm on the other side of Sudbury from North Bay.
The Slog of Slogs!
-
I just called them....."I'm sorry sir, it isn't released until the 25th of July"
>:(
:'(
-
The motorcycle slog sounded like it was going to be nice. You know, if they're listed online and you show up rather than call (if that journey is short enough to be worth ending in possible disappointment), sometimes books are on the shelves already despite not being shown as "available" in their computers.
Toronto is definitely selling them ahead of time:
Indigo Eaton Centre: 11 in stock
Indigo Yorkdale Shopping Centre: 3 in stock
Coles Beaches: 1 in stock
-
Best of luck in your ride, Hopper8r. I ended up ordering a hardback copy from Barnes and Noble online and a paperback copy form Book Depository. One of them should be here by Thursday, I can power through over the weekend and finally start looking at, and contributing, to other threads besides this one. I feel like I'm VERY late to the party here...hopefully the discussion will be on going for a while...so much to read and talk about!

I thought the same before I got my copy - don't worry, there will still be plenty of things to discuss after you've read TUC. :)
-
The COFFERS boys!
THE COFFERS!!
I took a chance and rode 2 hours.....ignored the pimply kid that told me on the phone it wasn't released until the 25th, walked to the back of store in the measly fantasy section...
..
Two copies of TUC tucked in sideways!
2 more hours home, one case of monkey butt, and no weepers on the slog!
See you all in a few days!
-
Nice one. I've held back my posting a bit. While i do a more thorough read through again. So will still be folk around wanting to discuss stuff :)

It's not even worldwide release yet and obviously it's only the hardcores who have found their copies already outside of UK and Europe.
And since I'm off the opinion that readers have just missed so much packed within TAE I expect we'll spend months figuring out and agreeing (or not) upon what happened, let alone what's going to happen.

Knew it, Hopper. I'm glad the ride was worth it :).

I've had an order in with Barnes and noble for about a month, thought I might get it early, but i still waiting for that call, so while I wait I decided to review the entire series on Amazon.
-
Nice, Ciogli!
-
Today is the day one of my two copies should arrive. I'm working from home and much closer to the front door than is reasonably expected...talk about a conditioned path. Well played R Scott Bakker...well played. Further updates as events warrant.
-
Good news! My hardcover copy is available for pick-up at the Clayton Barnes and Noble here in super-freaking-hot STL. Unfortunately, I left the house this morning before checking my e-mail AND I also left my 20% discount coupon at home! So, a special trip home is indicated!
-
That is good news, Beardfisher King! My door bell just rang...and I'm now in possession of my hardback copy. Looking forward to joining the discussions and sharing thoughts and theories. I will see you all on the other side.

Huzzah, Erratic Halaroi! Savour it!
-
Just called Barnes and noble and they said it came in today about to pick it up now.
-
Picked up my copy of TUC today! I've been riding with it in my cab, and I think my passengers see me as some kind of demoniacal necromancer. I mean, who rides around the city reading something called "The Unholy Consult"? Only a demoniacal necromancer, right?

Yay nice one mate :)

Exciting times 8)!

Finally I've succumbed and bought TUC in kindle version. Penitenciagite!
-
Just finished the thing and Holy Shit is all I can say.
-
My hardcover just shipped from Amazon. Says it should come tomorrow. Not that it really matters, but I'll be glad to have it.
-
Amazon.de failed me, delaying the hardcover shipment by 3 weeks for the second time.
Good old Dutch Bol.com finally shipped it today for a delivery on the European release date (ie. Tomorrow); ETD is tomorrow.
My schedule is now cleared (except for work) :D
-
Got the email confirmation that my copy will be available for pick up tomorrow. The precious shall be mine!
-
CC?!
Welcome back :)!
-
For amazon.es the date is still fucking 11/8. But I don't care now that I've already committed the mortal sin of reading TUC in kindle version.
-
Lo and behold!! It is in!! :D
-
Congrats to all (who've gotten it)!

Thank you. It's good to be back. Finished devouring the book, will continue to digest over the day, and then I'll join the discussion.

It's great to see Old Names returning.
-
I bought the physical copy here in Toronto, but can't seem to locate any option for a kindle purchase for Canadians.
Can anyone else confirm if there is no electronic version for Canada?
-
Not listed on amazon.ca, but as mentioned upthread you can change your location (temporarily) by entering a new address (adding not replacing your current CA address) and buy it on amazon.co.uk

huskylord, coming to Zaudunyanicon? (http://www.second-apocalypse.com/index.php?topic=2175.0)
Yeah, Canada seems to be SOL regarding an ebook. Most members have figured out a way to finagle an ebook from Amazon.co.uk, .com, or kobo.com.

Got a nice hardback copy today at B&N.

Nice, Trisk! Welcome back :).
-
It was funny. I called in ahead to ask that they reserve a copy for me just to be on the safe side. The guy, who to his credit did end up successfully placing the hold for me, had to ask me multiple times what the title of the book was like his brain just couldn't process a novel called "The Unholy Consult."
-
I have to wait ten (at least) days more to have my copy from amazon.es, sweet Sejenus give me patience.

Lol, I've heard one or two similarly humourous stories from people booking rooms for Zaudunyanicon.
The front desk just isn't able to hear and process that name (good job, Wilshire, confounding people with your brilliance ;)).

You'll make it, Woden. The day will be upon you and suddenly the moment will pass and you can begin your journey through the pages of dead, tattooed trees :).
-
Just received my glorious hardcover copy as well.
The Great Ordeal-TUC read can begin!
-
Huzzah, Mithfânion!
-
I got an UK ebook to support the B man and to depend on when I want to search for something in the book to use to defeat Kellhus fans.
-
Purchased mine via Kobo.

I usually read my books on the phone, the above screenshot is on my PC. I have a portrait monitor for coding but it also comes in handy for reading.
I had to repurchase the books for my reread last June as I originally had the books up until TWLW on my Kindle, but forgot my login. I had a few years of little to no books read due to going full blown workaholic around 2012.
Somewhat annoyed about the cover of TDTCB being different, but I got that before changing shop regions. Also I have no idea why TJE's cover is all blurry like that.
And yeah, I'm mostly an ebook as it's quicker to get the books as well as an issue with availability in this country.
-
Egad, feckless. Another blasted phone reader?! What's wrong with you people ;)?
-
I finally got my physical copy on the 4th. I tore that open faster than a child opening Christmas presents.

TMTA, I loved your username too when you registered. Welcome to the Second Apocalypse :). Savour your reading experience!
-
lol I really should get a dedicated reader device, but the phone is just more convenient.
-
Lol, there are a handful of you. Just seems so strange to me ;).
-
The sranc take Amazon.es!!!, I will never buy another book from them. Now they tell me that I will receive my TUC copy in a fucking week when it was supposed to be received today. And they give me no fucking explanation. I will descend upon them as a hunger.

¡Qué raro! I've had much better experiences with Amazon. Although I've never used Amazon.es. Usually their customer service is top notch, what's up in Spain?!
-
I don't know, I usually buy from Bookdepository, but this time I tried Amazon because I thought they will be me quicker. Bookdepository usually sends me the books in 15-20 days.
It's curious because I've bought other books in Amazon last week and today they have told me that they are sending them to me next week, and this is ten days earlier than told me when I've made the order.
-
The Hundred be praised! I've got it!
-
Huzzah! Huzzah!
Join us on on this side of revelation!
-
Lol. Congrats, Woden!
-
Amazon fucked me till the very end.
I was waiting for the courier in my office (although I am on holiday) all the morning. When the secretary left I was still waiting another hour to no avail and then I went home to have a lunch. Obviously (lol) the courier came when nobody was there, in lunchtime. Hopefully I was able to locate the place where the book was and LO! there I ran and grabbed it!
My precious!!!
I love the smell of new book, almost good as the smell of a new car, lol.
-
The Hundred be praised! I've got it!
Finally, the Coffers!
Hope you have a great time enjoying your new book. :)

Sure, thanks, it's not the same reading it hastily in kindle version.

Having an actual physical book just feels better. Plus you can always make notes if you want to, and/or add those diacritic marks and circumflexes that are missing (I'm definitely guilty of the latter). ;)

Yeah, it's hard to resist the urge. ;)
-
I wish I could remember such minutiae as dates and circumflexes. Alas, my understanding of the world and the books are much simpler.
