My favorite Gibson novel is actually Pattern Recognition. Fantastic quasi-SF novel with lots of typical postmodern elements.

Currently on Peter Watts's Maelstrom, second book in the Rifters trilogy. I freakin' love this dude.

Embassytown for sure. Kraken is quite fun, but I found it to be a bit silly; just Miéville goofing off, really. Embassytown, on the other hand, is an amazingly imagined speculative SF novel that is fun to read and really challenges its reader.

The first two Hyperion novels are incredible. I've never gotten around to finishing the series, but I'm told it's good if you can push through it.
The first book is nearly immaculate; well-written and a great story. The second book drags a bit, in my opinion; but oh man, that conclusion makes the whole thing totally worth it.
Has anyone else tried to read Miéville's Railsea? I attempted and didn't get very far at all; really disappointing.

I actually am Soterion. For some reason, the forum couldn't locate my previous username. But I figured it's a new forum, so it might be time for a name change anyway.
Glad you're finding the fantasy/SF reading enjoyable! I actually just recently picked up a book by Carl Freedman titled Critical Theory and Science Fiction. I've only read about 30 pages, but so far it's really good. More of a historicist approach concerned with analyzing SF's relationship to genre and the literary canon.Finished Delany's Dhalgren, so now I'm on to David Mitchell's Cloud Atlas.

A lot on my plate, currently.
I'm about 600 pages into Samuel Delany's Dhalgren, which is turning out to be an incredibly complex and moving work.
I'm also working through:
Deleuze and Guattari's Anti-Oedipus and Manuel DeLanda's Philosophy and Simulation. And on the side, I'm really enjoying the Saga and East of West comic series.
