At the same time, I can see why many think it's Aurax. it speaks through telepathy, whereas as Aurang always uses his Nonman or Synthese head to physically speak. It also uses the royal 'we' in its speech, something Aurang has never done either to my knowledge.

I'm re-reading the series at the moment, and I've always wondered which of the two it was. I think these particular arguments are the ones that have always swayed me towards it being Aurax. I don't want to spoil later books in this particular subforum, but despite what I just said, it's hard to reconcile this depiction of Aurax (if it is him) with stuff that happens later in the books. I doubt we'll be getting anything from the author on this any time soon.

I'll keep an eye out as I read for whether Aurang ever uses the "royal we" as I'm not 100% on that.

Actually, just a heads up that I did not receive a DM, so I sent one myself which appeared to succeed but observed that there is also nothing in my sent items. Tried logging in again in both the same browser and incognito. No errors in the dev console or network request failures. I can provide more details to repro if so desired, but from what I see it looks like the DM's are just not being returned, if they are even being stored.
